A
Special Invitation
Dear Brethren in Christ,
If you believe
in conservative Christian values, here's your
chance to make a difference in the Archdiocese of the Southwest, no
matter where you live in the world.
Sadly today we face a situation of declining morals, loss of history,
loss of tradition, and loss of decent human interaction. The
tried-and-true is replaced with the cheap and pointless simply for
the sake of being new. Even the Church is not immune from this. The
traditional theology and faith of our fathers handed down from the
Apostles is often replaced with "pop theology," giving the
people whatever they want to get them in the pews. Many still seek,
though, the God-centered beauty of the classical church. Many feel
isolated by this "trend of trendiness," wondering what to do.
Truly religious
men often face the dilemma of what to do to take care of the
spiritual needs of their families. These men have not followed the
modern mantra and abdicated their parental responsibilities and
duties as husbands. They care about not just the material comfort of
their families. Often the choice they face is between a church
espousing pop theology, trendy liturgy, bad music, or the like.
Sometimes this comes from physical isolation. Sometimes they feel
isolated even within their own town.
If you can relate
to this situation, we
want to hear from you.
We were founded out of these principles more than thirty years ago,
and now we serve as a mission-oriented diocese seeking to help solve
some of these problems and empower people to assist in the effort.
Our mission is to maintain the classical, traditional faith handed
down from the Apostles, following the ancient Anglican Rite begun by
St. Augustine of Canterbury (who himself was sent as a mission bishop
by the Pope).
Mission work, and
indeed faith itself begins in the home. One particularly important
duty of a father is to oversee the spiritual needs of his family.
This is even more important if that man is a priest. A priest in the
house, bringing the sacraments to his family; this is a worthy goal
by itself. Additionally, from this small seed planted in the family,
it is possible (and desirable) that a local parish may grow, so that
others who feel the same as you can share in the joy of Christ,
liberated through the Apostolic faith, and expressed through the
beauty of the Anglo-Catholic tradition. Faith starts at home, but we
take it to the world. We go where we are needed. If this sounds like
you, we
want to hear from you.
We seek educated
men of faith with a college degree (graduate degrees are a plus). The
educational portion of priestly formation, through Trinity
School for Ministry (an Anglican seminary outside of the
Metropolitan See) is available both in residential and distance
format. Training is at your own pace. It could be four years or more,
or could be less (especially if you already have a theological degree
or formation training already). If you are up to the challenge, we
want to hear from you.
May God guide you
in your vocation discernment and be with you always, no matter where
your life takes you.
Pax Domini sit
semper vobiscum,
